Active Business Group was extremely proud to be part of ‘Santas On The Run’ and those who took part really enjoyed the day.
We hope you have raised plenty of funds for a very deserving cause and that you are already planning next year’s run, which I’m sure the group will look favourably on regarding sponsorship/participation.
After Sunday’s events, I hope you all went home and put your Christmas decorations up and really got into the festive spirit!
I cannot say a big enough thank you to you for donating your time on Sunday to help make Santas on the Run! the overwhelming success that it was. I am so happy to tell you all that we had just over 1,100 Santas run with us and we have currently raised £30,500 for Pilgrims Hospices to continue providing specialist care to our patients and their families, and this figure is going up every day! We simply wouldn’t be able to put on such successful events if it wasn’t for each and every one of you coming out to support us and help in the run up and on the day, events like this really do take an army and I’m so happy that each of you are part of my events army!
Each of you played a vital role on the day and without you, the day wouldn’t have been the success that it was, so please give yourself a massive round of applause for helping us raise such an amazing amount of money for local hospice care.
I’d like to say a massive thank you to our marshals who were out on route supporting our runners around the 3k and 5k route ensuring that they were safe and having fun! The marshals of our events really do play such a vital role, they offer continuous support and cheering to keep our runners in that festive and jolly mood. We also had some lovely volunteers from Hampton Table Tennis Club handing out water to our runners! This year we had a mixture of Pilgrims staff and volunteers as well as the continued support of Herne Bay Rotary Club; Chris, please share this email amongst your volunteers. We had many compliments on our marshals this year so thank you for giving our runners a fantastic experience on their jolliest jog of the year!
Thank you to all of our volunteers who were on registration in the morning making sure that our Santas checked into the run received their Santa suits. The queues were handled amazingly and you were incredibly speedy in getting over 1,000 Santas checked in within the timeframe. Thank you to Leah and Hannah who looked after on the day registration too, they had 79 Santas sign up on the day and I believe they all got a Santa suit! Thank you also to our meeters & greeters who welcomed our Santas in with a smile and kindly pointed them in direction of our registration desks.
We had the fantastic Black Ark Medical Team with us on the day who were there in case any accidents or emergencies occurred, and I am so happy to say that they had a very quiet morning with us taking in the sight of so many Santas running along the seafront.
Herne Bay Concert Band joined us for the day to play some beautiful Christmas Carols for our volunteers and supporters to make sure that everyone was in the Christmas spirit when they started their run. They always play such lovely music and they really do help to set the scene for the day, thank you!
We had some lovely fundraising stalls on the day too who helped us to raise over £500! We had the fabulous Elaine, Jill and Lyn on the Teddy Tombola; they spend many months collecting teddies, putting them into beautiful bags and knitting Santa hats for each of the teddies. We also have David selling his homemade jams & chutneys which always go down a treat as well as some winter plants; if you didn’t catch any there will be some being sold in Canterbury Reception from today. We also had some of our Pilgrims Hospices Christmas Cards for sale which went down incredibly well with our supporters, especially our Santas on the Run! specific card and we also had a lucky dip for the children!
Our Santas were welcomed back from their 3k or 5k run by a delicious mince pie which was generously donated by Jenner Construction, so a big thank you to Jenner for this kind donation as our Santas thoroughly enjoyed their treat.
We had some incredible sponsors on board this year for Santas on the Run! Wahl UK came on board as our headline sponsor and they entered a team of over 30 Santas on the day; Active Business Group sponsored the event and entered a team of Santas and Santas little helpers on the day and of course a big thank you to Active Life Ltd who were there on the day to support us with the warm-up and volunteers and also play a big role in the background helping us to organise the event!
We had a number of photographers on the day who really captured the feel and atmosphere of the day and it’s so lovely to see all of the smiles on peoples faces! These photos will be going up on Facebook over the next couple of days so please do keep an eye out for these. Thank you to each of our photographers for capturing the smile and laughter of the day, I’m sure these photos will give some families lovely memories of the day.
A special thank you to Ben Trott who was our MC for the day who kept the atmosphere going down at the Clock Tower and made sure that everyone stayed upbeat and got the crowd excited for the fun run!
And a big thank you to the volunteers who helped to set up the venue and pack it back down after and a special thank you to Dan for getting our snow machine working as who doesn’t love snow at a Santa run.
I really cannot say thank you enough for helping to make this event a success and for it being a bigger success than last year; I can’t wait to see what we can do in 2019 and I look forward to doing it all again with you all!
All the best,
